On Aug 18th the Town will be posting the required 3 days notice of Level 2 restrictions, limiting outdoor lawn watering to twice a week only. ![]() Effective Monday August 22nd The Town of Hampstead has implemented the following watering ban: On August 8th, pursuant to RSA 41:11-d, the Hampstead Select Board unanimously voted to adopt a Lawn Watering Management Ordinance in order to protect public health and safety by restricting the use of water from private wells or public water systems for outdoor lawn watering (including residential and commercial properties) during a state or federally declared drought. Please be advised that the enforcement of the Town of Hampstead’s policy by the Hampstead Police Department does not apply to the HAWC customers who reside in Atkinson. The following is a summary of the Town of Hampstead’s policy. Subsequent offenses will result in disconnection of water service. The first offense will result in a written notice for failure to comply. Please be advised that the watering ban will be strictly enforced. HAWC will not be imposing penalties but will follow PUC rules regarding non-compliance with a watering ban which could include disconnection of water service. This new Town ordinance requires all Hampstead customers to follow the Town of Hampstead’s watering ban to limit outdoor watering to 2 days per week effective Monday August 22. HAWC believes water conservation during a drought period is good for everyone. The Hampstead Police Department will be enforcing this ban which can include monetary fines. The Town of Hampstead’s ban includes customers of HAWC who reside in Hampstead. In light of recent Severe Drought conditions, the Town of Hampstead is implementing a watering ban that limits outdoor watering to 2 days per week. HAWC currently has an Odd \ Even outdoor watering policy in place for all customers. HAWC is fortunate to have an adequate supply of water for everyday needs, however it is important to use this water wisely.
